About

About Spirits of PA

Spirits of PA is a statewide effort to grow awareness of Pennsylvania's distilled spirits — and to grow the industry that makes them.

The aim is simple:

Help people discover Pennsylvania distilleries, help the distillers and the farms and suppliers behind them reach new audiences, and put Pennsylvania forward as the craft spirits destination of the East Coast. How? By telling the full story — the heritage, the people, the grain — and making it easy for others to discover these experiences firsthand.

Spirits of PA is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture through its Industry Promotion Board under Act 57 of 2024.

It is built as a shared, low-barrier platform: distilleries, growers, suppliers, and tourism partners can take part without new budgets or major changes to how they already work.

Beginning May 2026, the program is structured to be a shared effort, directly involving interested distilleries, growers, suppliers, heritage areas, and tourism partners who can actively participate without changing their budgets or current initiatives.

What and why

Growers & farmers

Spirits start in a field. We surface the farmers growing the grain — including heritage varieties like Rosen rye — because their role is part of the product and the proof, and because demand for Pennsylvania grain keeps dollars in the state’s rural economy.

What and why

Supply chain

Maltsters, cooperages, and glassmakers turn raw materials into finished spirits. Featuring Pennsylvania suppliers — from malthouses to barrel makers — shows the depth of the state’s grain-to-glass chain and strengthens every link in it.

DMOs & tourism

Destination marketing organizations and heritage areas get ready-to-use materials they can fold into their own promotion — no new budget, no staffing changes — built to fit the story-first direction Pennsylvania tourism is already moving in. The program is designed to make partners’ work lighter, not heavier.
